Everywhere that roses grow, people have a relationship with them as beautiful, and as delicious food and powerful medicine. This region is blessed with an abundance of native roses, and the Salish peoples have related with them forever. Rose is commonly known as a wound healer, both physical and emotional - and those are some of its most powerful aspects. There are many more medicinal uses, too. And much of the plant is edible! Our region has an abundance of native roses, and also an abundance of introduced ornamental roses. We'll talk about which kinds of roses are best for which uses. We'll also talk about urban foraging, gardening with and propagating roses, and wildtending them.
